Sage smudging is well known for being used to cleanse your home from negative energy and bad spirits. Or for cleansing second hand furniture you have or crystals.
Sage smudging is something i like to do to reset my intentions and shift from an energy blockage.
Sometimes i find myself feeling no creative flow, or a lack of motivation and when i sage myself and workspace, it helps to clear the energy and reset myself so i can start fresh.
I often sage both my daughters bedrooms and underneath their beds to clear any energies that are no longer serving them, to help reset.
Sage smudging is something that you can implement as a weekly or monthly ritual also, or even when there is a New moon of Full moon?
It really is simple, follow these instructions:
If you are smudging for spiritual, energetic, and negativity clearing purposes Take a moment before you light the sage to determine what exactly it is that you're trying to purify or release from your space.
Remove animals or people from the room.
It’s also important to leave a window open before, during, and after smudging. This allows smoke to escape.
Some believe smoke also takes impurities and negative energy with it so don’t skip this step.
- Light the end of a sage bundle with a match. Blow out quickly if it catches on fire.
- The tips of the leaves should smoulder slowly, releasing thick smoke. Direct this smoke around your body and space with one hand while holding the bundle in the other.
- Allow the smudge stick to linger on the areas of your body or surroundings you’d like to focus on. Using a fan can also help direct the smoke, though this is optional.
- Allow the ash to collect in a ceramic bowl or shell.
Do what feels best for your situation and follow your intuition. Repeat when necessary.
